FAQ’s

Who is Loveable for?

Loveable is for learning‐disabled and autistic adults who want to make friends, go out, try new things, and feel part of a wider community.

Do I need support to attend?

Some people come independently, others attend with a PA, support worker, friend, or family member. Often people start by coming with support but soon feel welcomed and confident enough to come independently. Whatever makes you feel the most comfortable.

What kinds of events are included?

For the £10 membership you can attend the pub social once a month and be part of the whatsapp group and regular newsletter.

For the full £45 a month membership you can access the pub social, soundspace sessions, theatre group, our popular parties and upcoming relationships workshops. If you are a Loveable Plus member you will get priority booking on extra events that we often have like club nights and theatre trips.

We always ask our community and members what kind of activities they want to do and we are always up for making things happen when we can! So who knows what we will do next?! You decide!

How old do I have to be to join Loveable?

Loveable is for adults aged 18 and over. If you are 17 (nearly 18) please get in touch so that we can start to get to know you and arrange taster sessions.

What is the joining process?

Here’s how it works:
1 Make an enquiry or referral
You (or someone supporting you) can get in touch by email, facebook, or through our website. People can also be referred by professionals, friends, or family.

2 We get in touch
A member of the Loveable team will contact you (or the person who made the referral) to have a friendly chat and answer any questions.

3 Come and meet us / Safeguarding check in
You’ll be invited to a taster session or to meet Noosh or Rach at a Loveable social so you can get a feel for it. We will also want to meet a supporter / friend / family member to verify who you are. If you are attending independently, you can give us contact details of them when you come.

4 Join Loveable 💜
Once everything feels right for both of us, you can choose your membership and officially join the Loveable community.

What if I can't afford to come to Loveable?

We are an inclusive organisation and want everyone to be able to participate. If you are on a no or low income thats ok! We have some bursary places available. Please just let us know and we will talk to you about joining with our inclusion fund.

What does Loveable Lite mean?

Signing up to Loveable Lite means you are part of Loveable and you can also attend our monthly pub social each month which is great place where all our members meet, make friends, potentially find dates, hang out and feel a part of our community. We can add you to our whatsapp group which means you will have a say in how Loveable is run and be notified about upcoming events in our community. If you are on this membership, you will be able to book and pay for our additional extra events – with no pressure, just pay as you go.

What does Loveable Plus include?

Loveable Plus is our full membership option and gives members unlimited access to Loveable socials and events, priority booking for popular activities, and the chance to be a regular part of a welcoming and inclusive community. Members receive support from the Loveable team to help them feel comfortable, included, and confident, and can take part in a wide range of social opportunities designed to build friendships, try new things, and feel connected.

We currently have these three core events monthly – Pub social, Soundspace music night, and theatre group. We have popular parties 3 or 4 times a year. As a Loveable Plus member you also get priority booking on our extras that pop up such as karaoke nights and Bristol Club Trips.

Typically, learning disabled people often only socialise within their own paid or family support bubbles. Spaces to socialise evenings and weekend are lacking and there are stereotypes about what disabled people can and want to do. We are here to smash those stereotypes and promote inclusivity in our local pubs. clubs and community spaces. We believe that human connection and friendship is absolutely vital to a meaningful and purposeful life. We are a small organisation on a big mission to inject some fun and love into the world. We want to live in a world where everybody has the chance to love and be loved.
